Outstanding AmeriCorps Member of the Year

2012 AmeriCorps Member of the Year: Ingrid Morales

What can I say about Ingrid?  I wish I had 17 of her... and I literally wrote that on one of her evaluations.  I have never seen Ingrid without a huge smile on her face.  I have never heard Ingrid say anything bad or complain about anyone.  I have never heard anyone complain or say anything bad about Ingrid.  She is punctual, responsible, dependable, honest and hard working.  She always goes above and beyond and though she has no interest in law enforcement she has tried everything and given 110% in all.  She is the only member who has ever actually requested Oak Grove every day she works and the staff and students love her.  She has also offered invaluable translation assistance for educational purposes and to assist officers and staff; sometimes having to breach hard topics with families, such as an arrest of their child and even rape and child abuse.  She handled all with professionalism.

Ingrid has been a pleasure to work with and it is our loss that she is not returning for a second year of service.  She will be missed, but we wish her the best in her pursuit of a career in medicine and know she will be a success at whatever she sets out to achieve.

Dan Marscher

2011 AmeriCorps Member of the Year: Dan Marscher

Dan served with AmeriCorps Clearwater from January 2010 to December 2011, completing two full time years with the program.  During this time he gained respect from staff, citizens and his AmeriCorps peers.  Dan served as team leader during the 2011 program year and earned a special spot working with the CID division of the Department.  He is a certified car seat technician and co-taught car seat classes, as well as installing numerous car seats at our local fitting station and other events.

Dan lead by example and was humble, yet well liked and gladly followed.  He played a key role in keeping the program together during a difficult transition and was instrumental in assisting the new director in learning the program.

Dan currently attends the police academy at the SPC Allstate Center and hopes to pursue a career as a law enforcement officer.
