The Clearwater Police Department has been accredited for seven consecutive times by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.
The police department first was accredited in 1998 and has been successfully re-accredited every three years since. With the re-accreditation from 2013, the agency gained the prestigious Excelsior rating as a five-time re-accredited department. That’s something only a handful of police departments in Florida have done.
Being accredited means the department complies with more than 200 different standards to ensure the agency maintains a high level of professionalism and service to the community.
