LEGAL NOTICE
Advisory Required by the Bureau of Justice Assistance
Posting date: July 7, 2008
The Clearwater Police Department (CPD) is submitting
an application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance, for a FY 2008 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant
in the amount of $30,414 for its Tactical Weapons Illuminator
Project.
The Tactical Weapons Illuminator is the original
rail mount weapons light that is compatible with the handguns
used by all CPD officers. The light attaches onto the weapon and
provides powerful light, as well as fast and significantly clearer
identification of the target. The light weighs less than 4 ounces
and will not hamper performance or shooter skill. The accompanying
holsters are necessary for the Illuminator to be stored on the
officer's belt with the weapon. The Tactical Weapons Illuminator
will prove to be extremely useful to CPD officers in low light
situations and will greatly enhance officer safety. The grant
will fund the purchase of 240 lights and 240 holsters, providing
all sworn personnel with the equipment.
Questions or comments regarding this grant application should
be addressed to Janet Skinner, Grants Coordinator, Clearwater
Police Department, 645 Pierce St., Clearwater, FL 33756.
