SURVEILLANCE PHOTOGRAPH OF ROBBER RELEASED

Clearwater Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives are searching for the bandit who robbed a Clearwater bank Tuesday afternoon, and they have made public a bank surveillance of the robbery in progress.

The bandit - described as a tall, thin black man with a thin moustache and goatee and appearing to be in his late 20s to mid-30s - was wearing a red T-shirt and white pants when robbing the Whitney Bank at 1465 South Fort Harrison Avenue. The robber was wearing a baseball cap over his short hair and sunglasses when he presented a teller a demand note implying he had a gun; none was seen.

The robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of currency and is believed to have escaped on foot. Anyone with information as to the identity of this man (see photos at right) is asked to call Clearwater Police Detective Steve Bohling at 727-562-4398.
