Officer Friendly Jamboree

Children in a sack race

The Officer Friendly Jamboree is an annual spring event held at the Jack Russell Stadium. Over 2,000 children attend each year from kindergarten, second grade, and fourth grade. The children attend the event as a field trip from their schools. The event usually takes place around the last week of April. By this time, each child's class has had at least two visits by Officer Friendly that year so the officers are well known to all the children.

The 2003 Officer Friendly Jamboree is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2003 from, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., at Jack Russell Stadium. For more information contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 562-4152 .

Child playing game Focus on Fun! The event was originated as an opportunity to thank the children for the attention that they gave to Officer Friendly during the classroom lectures. While the children learn about the police department and its various functions and units, the primary objective of the day is fun! The students are treated to games, dance contests, face painting, K-9 demonstrations, sack races, and much more. Snow cones and soft drinks are provided as well. Everything is free of charge for all the children.
