1160 Gulf Blvd.
Clearwater, FL 33767

2005-2006 Slogan Contest Winner:

Mitchell Shackelford
"Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain; Wear your Helmet and Protect Your Brain"

The Officer Friendly Safety Slogan Contest was established in 1977. All of the elementary schools in Clearwater participate in the contest in which classroom teachers have their students submit a unique safety slogan. The teacher and the students then pick the best four slogans from their class. Next, the slogans are turned over to Officer Friendly who compiles all of the entries. The slogans are then submited to a distinguished panel of judges who pick one winning slogan and six runners-up.

The winner and the runners-up are personally notified in their classrooms. They and their families are invited to attend the awards breakfast at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort. Officer Friendly emcees the event, and the awards are presented to the students by Police Chief Sid Klein. In addition to the awards breakfast, the winner and the runners-up are invited to ride with Officer Friendly in the lead car at the Fun N' Sun Parade.
