The Police Records Unit is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Phone numbers for specific records and services are as follows:

How to Obtain Police Records

The Records Unit provides copies of police reports in accordance with the Florida public records statutes and related laws and rules governing the dissemination of public records. Copies are usually provided within one day of receipt of the request. Large requests and/or archive retrieval may require additional processing time. To request records, please contact the Records Manager at (727) 562-4455. The mailing address is:

Copying charges are assessed at the current statutory limits of $.15 per one-sided page, $.20 per double-sided page, and $1.00 per certified copy. Additional charges levied for non-routine or in-depth research as requested.

Judicial dispositions of police reports may be obtained from the Pinellas County Clerk of Court or from the State Attorney, Sixth Judicial Circuit.

The Records Unit also processes various permits and background checks, prison visitation applications, and data concerning police calls for service within the Clearwater city limits. Positive photo identification is required for identification and permit services. Fingerprinting and permitting services are processed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Current fees for these services are:

  • Good Conduct Letters: $5
  • Fingerprinting (walk-in): $5
  • Prison Visitation Application: No charge. A recent non-returnable photograph and stamped envelope addressed to the correctional facility must accompany the application.
  • Business Tax Receipt Background Check1: $50
  • Taxi/Limo Driver Permit: $50
  • Transfer or Replacement Taxi/Limo Driver Permit: $5
  • Solicitor Permit: $50
  • Handbill Permit: $10
  • Grid Reports/Police Activity: $7 plus $.15 per page
