Question
C6 asked the respondent to comment or make suggestions on how
we could improve our service.
- Poor priorities; spend too much on toys; need
strong leadership
- Police on Clearwater Beach harass the young
people.
- Get tougher or crackdown on loitering in Greenwood

and destruction of property.
- I think the police are doing a good job in
S Greenwood
- Officers need better awareness of traffic
laws.
- Better community interaction. Neighborhood
visits.
- CPD is doing a great job.
- I think CPD has been doing a very good job.
- Officers talking on cell phones, not a good
example
- Increase patrols at Lutheran Church.
- Due to speeding we need a four-way stop
sign. It's dangerous!
- Having my mail and dog stolen are big
crimes to me. Please take charge to prosecute
- Quit focusing on small stuff-be helpful-we
are not a police state.
- Traffic is the most problem; running red lights
- I work retail where officers have been very
helpful when needed.
- Patrol schools during pick up & drop off
- too many speeders and stop sign runners.
- Provide information for the home describing
various depts. & contacts within CPD.
- More patrols in neighborhoods and less patrol
cars sitting in parking lots talking to each other.
- Have Officers stop by businesses and get to
know the owners.

Finally respondents were
given an opportunity to write any comments, questions or concerns
they may have. Many respondents wrote voluminous amounts, which
were copied and sent directly to the Chief of Police.
- Get tough on crime, no motorcycles; address
homeless problem; let PCSO take over; poor administration/copy
to chief
- Traffic/Speeding problems; Need more officers
on road
- Not comfortable with "roundabout"
- CPD does a very good job, However Countless
times I've seen teens drug deal and smoke pot at stop &
shop across sub station, also beaten on the public pay phone.
Makes sub station look pretty bad.
- Emphasis should be placed on having lights
on when driving in the rain.
- Need more signals, eventually cut down on
this situation.
- Over 5 yrs., I have been involved w/RCS's
Grace House in S. Greenwood. I have been favorably impressed
by the interaction of the Clearwater police w/the member of
the S. Clearwater Citizens for Progress Alliance.
- Would be great to organize neighborhood
block parties. To meet neighbors and police who patrol the
area. Be informed of problems and plans to improve the area.
(Scans, conmen, vandals, theft, etc.) Thank you for asking
taxpayers of Clearwater.
- I am very happy to live here. The police are
helpful to my family and me. I am glad to live here and very
thankful to all the police officers.
- Drug problem in my area, a few blocks off
Greenwood.
- Has a State Trooper in his neighborhood
monitoring speeding, and would like to thank Officer O'Donnell.
Thank you for all the support in our community.
- Good police presence in neighborhood and park.
- Regarding A-4, I have two dogs and believe
they are a deterrent. I live in a modest, quiet neighborhood
and I do not see many criminal activities.
- New to area, however, would like to see police
presence in her neighborhood.
- I wish there were more facilities for
young people (teens) to "hang out" so they didn't
use areas where people are trying to park to shop or pick up
a quick snack. Kids get into trouble when they get bored.
- In my neighborhood we have a Deputy who
parks his car when he is not on duty. I think this helps.
- Lives in Largo, CPD good from observations
- In 28 years never saw an officer walking around,
only at the parade.
- Chief Klein is the best Police Chief
- Extra patrol requested, also sidewalk so people
does not walk on grass.
- Asked to get address in middle of night
for domestic call. Lack of patrol.
- 2 years ago I reported a theft - the
police officers were excellent. I frequently observe police
officers across from my home at a shopping center. They always
appear professional.
- Traffic is a big problem; not enough
patrols in residential areas. Your dept has a big job. My
hat is off to you all.
- There was confusion as to where the report
for lost credit card should be taken. It should have been handled
quickly to prevent possible use of card. As a retailer, help
has always been prompt or at least reasonable. Officers have
been courteous.
- Police/Juvenile relationships; No respect
- My home was burglarized. PCSO retrieved
fingerprints. Days later, Clearwater Officers were in the area
with a detained person which matched the description. Went
to speak with Officers and they were rude and unwilling to listen.
More cooperation between depart
- Address the drug issue at the Tri-plex on
Lakeview Rd, across from the Baptist Church.
- I called 911 about a snake in my kitchen.
They told me to contact Animal Control. I called the police
and the officer removed the snake for me at Noon. Animal Control
called at 4pm to tell me how to catch the snake.
- Allow officers to bring home their cars.
Patrol school zones and ticket speeders. Husband tried to be
a Clearwater officer but was told he would have to start from
scratch even with all his training & experience in the AF
special forces. FL lost.
- Set up neighborhood meetings to introduce
officers with the community in order to become more familiar
with the officers in their area.
- Greenwood Ave & surrounding areas
are a disgrace!! Speed traps are a money-making endeavor NOT
traffic control.
- Speeding is a BIG problem on Jeffords
St. An officer was placed in my driveway with a radar gun but
nobody was speeding because they saw him. Guess it will take
a child getting run over to get someone’s attention.
- Just like to say we have one fine, thoughtful,
police chief!!
- Speeding in Neighborhood is a grave concern.
- Need to do more about teens skipping school,
doing drugs and committing crimes. Faster and more harsh penalties.
- Believe the homeless situation could be controlled
a little better, believe it is not strictly up to CPD, but rather
a community & political awareness. Seems other counties
are stricter, leaving Clearwater an open invitation for the
homeless.
